Life of Mahatma Gandhi Ji
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, at Porbandar, present Indian state of Gujarat. His father was the dewan (chief minister) of Porbandar. He was the last child of his father Karam chand Gandhi and his fourth wife Putlibai. His religious mother was a devoted practitioner of Vaishnavism (worship of the Hindu god Vishnu). His father died when he was in school. At the age of 13 Gandhi Ji was married to Kasturba. In 1888, He left for London to pursue his degree in Inner Temple.
At the age of 19, Gandhi Ji left for London to study law at Inner Temple. During his study he was a simple student who believe in study and making a good career. After returning back to India he set an office in Bombay to practice law. But incidently he was not that much successful. This motivated him to join an Indian firm. His firm sent him to Soth Africa. With his wife Kasturba and children, Gandhi Ji remained in South Africa for 20 years.
In South Africa many times he had to face discrimination. All these incidents motivated him to work against the discrimination and make movement to fight agains discrimination that later converted in to the movement for Independent India. He was the great Leader for Indian Indepence. We can never for his contribution for our nation. Because of his great contribution now a day we are able to live in a free nation.
