Manu Bhaker is an Indian Olympian who competes in shooting. She won a bronze medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris in the women’s 10 metre Air Pistol event. She also qualified for the bronze medal match in the 10 metre air pistol mixed event, along with Sarabjot Singh in the 2024 Summer Olympics held at Paris. Family
Manu Bhaker belongs from a Jat family. Her father, Ram Kishan Bhaker works as a chief engineer in the Merchant Navy. Her mother, Sumedha is a school teaher. She also has a brother Akhil Bhaker. By the age of 14, she was good in many sports like, Huiyen lallong, Manipuri martial art, boxing, tennis, skating, etc. She also won some of the medals in these sports at the national games.
Education & Qualification
Bhaker completed her schooling from Universal Public Senior Secondary School, Jhajjar, Haryana. Her hobbies are needle-work, bungee-jumping, ice-skating. She has a really great inclination towards sports from her childhood itself.
Career
Bhaker decided to participate in competitive shooting with an investment of Rs.1,50,000 by her father. In 2017 Asian Junior Championship, she won a silver medal. Wow! That’s International level!!
In 2017 National games, held at Kerala Bhaker won nine gold medals. That’s a lot in a year, know? She defeated multiple World Cup medalist Heena Sidhu and even broke sidhu’s record of 240.8 points, by scoring 242.3 points in the final.
In 2018 International Shooting Sports Federation World Cup, held at Guadalajara, Mexico Bhaker won the gold medal in Women’s 10 metre air pistol. She defeated Mexico’s Alejandra Zavala who is a two-time champion. By winning the gold medal at age 16, Bhaker became the youngest Indian to win a gold medal at the World Cup. What.. only 16?!! That’s incredible.
Bhaker won a second gold medal at the World Cup in the 10-metre Air Pistol Mixed event. She was paired with a fellow countryman, Om Prakash Mitharval. In 2018 Commonwealth Games, she set a new record of 240.9 points in 10m air pistol and won a gold medal.
Manu Bhaker won the the bronze medal 2024 Summer Olympics, held at Paris. She became the first woman shooter from India to win a shooting medal at Olympics. She won with the score of 221.7 points in Air Pistol.

!! Manu Bhaker was earlier interested in Cricket and even joined Virender Sehwag’s coaching school in Jhajjar.
!! She also used to do boxing and Kick-Boxing as she was inspired by Mary Com’s Olympic Bronze, but quitted it after she had a swollen eye, while playing volley ball as a warm-up routine for boxing.
!! Manu’s father says that he woudn;t be surprised if she one day tells him to quit the sport, even if she has won an Olympic. He says..”Wo alag type ki hai”
