Family
Navdeep Singh was born in a middle class family, in Panipat, Haryana. His father, Dalbir Singh, a national-level wrestler motivated his son for wrestling. Navdeep started his athletic career at the age of 10 years with wrestling. Later, he was motivated by Neeraj Chopra, the national icon and found his true calling for javelin throw.
Career
Navdeep started his journey at the Asian Youth Para Games and won his first gold medal. He continued his training at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) centres in Gandhinagar and Bangalore. In 2021, he won another gold medal at Fazza International Championship at Dubai. In 2021, at the Tokyo Paralympics, he finished at the fourth rank. In 2024, he won a bronze medal at the World Para Athletics Championship.
Navdeep won a gold medal at the Paris Paralympics 2024 on 7 Sept. 2024. It was a 7th gold medal at Paris 2024 for India and the 16th gold medal in the paralympic history of India.
